|Respite Care provides assistance to the carers of frail older people, people suffering with dementia or a related illness and people of any age, including young children with a physical, intellectual or sensory disability. |
Qualified staff undertake the role of the primary carer so you can have a break from your caring responsibilities. The service provides time for the primary carer to participate in family, social, recreational, personal or community activities.
The service is available seven days a week for regular or occasional bookings.
Fees are based on an hourly rate in accordance with your annual income. Additional fees are charged for travel related kilometres.
How to apply
Anyone can apply by making a referral for the service, including yourself, a relative or friend, a nurse, a general practitioner or another service provider.

Council’s Living at Home Assessment Officer will arrange a convenient time to visit you at home to discuss the service and obtain necessary information.
You may have someone with you during this visit if you wish; perhaps a family member or friend.
