The Fielding Menzies Tertiary Scholarships will give VCE students from secondary schools in Hindmarsh Shire the opportunity to study at university without financial stress.

The scholarships will support tertiary studies, at an approved Australian university, for secondary students who are finishing senior school and demonstrate a strong desire and capacity to undertake a university qualification but are likely to experience economic hardship in continuing their education.

Three students will each be awarded $10,000 for three years (total $30,000 per recipient) with funds provided by the Fielding Foundation, established by Melbourne businessman and philanthropist Peter Fielding. Three scholarships will be awarded each year for at least the next three years.

The scholarships have been developed and will be administered by the Sir Robert Menzies Foundation and take in three state schools – Dimboola Secondary Memorial College, Nhill College and Rainbow Secondary College – located close to Jeparit, where former Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies was born 120 years ago.

Applications open in May and will be awarded for the first time in June.
