  Hindmarsh Shire Council supports and encourages a vibrant community life, endeavouring to ensure that the entire community enjoys access to active, creative and often innovative activities, experiences and programs.

Our Shire's lifestyle is complemented by the great outdoors - its breathtaking national parks and beautiful lakes. But it also has a thriving arts community with creative and performing artists, the Play Dimboola, the Piggery Lane Players, the Nhill Community Memorial Centre and the Nhill Arts Council. A great number of community groups and sporting clubs ensure every member of our communities can actively participate in community life throughout the year.

 Visit the Play Dimboola by Jack Hibberd,
 The Wimmera German Festival in Dimboola (April).
 The four town's Agricultural and Pastoral Shows (October)
 Explore the walking tracks along the Wimmera River, the Nhill Lake or in the Shire's national parks,
 Play golf at the Nhill Golf Course – the 17th course opened in Victoria, and consistently rated as one of the state’s best country 18-hole courses,
 Enjoy the Nhill Duck and Jazz Festival (February),
 Dress up for the Nhill Boxing Day Races,
 Go to the movies at the Nhill Memorial Community Centre,
 Visit the Wimmera Mallee Pioneer Museum in Jeparit, or celebrate the Queen’s birthday weekend at the Museum's Vintage Rally,
 Go four-wheel driving and motorcycle riding, bush cycling or walking.
 Try your hand at fishing and skiing when the Wimmera River and terminal lakes are suitable,
 Have a peek at yesteryear splendour at Rainbow's Edwardian Yurunga Homestead,
 Check out historic limestone Pella Church west of Rainbow or Ebenezer Mission at Antwerp,
