|General home care assistance provides help with house-keeping tasks that are difficult to manage due to frailty or disability. The service can also assist with shopping and paying bills, transport to medical appointments where no other transport is available and some meal preparation. |
Council promotes client independence as far as possible by undertaking those tasks that are too heavy or difficult to perform.
In some circumstances, Council staff may be able to demonstrate easier, safer ways to undertake tasks so individuals remain independent for as long as possible
General home care assistance is available Monday to Friday.
General home care assistance is available for residents of Hindmarsh who are frail, aged or suffer from a permanent disability.
Fees are based on an hourly rate in accordance with your annual income.
How to apply:
Anyone can apply by making a referral for the service, including yourself, a relative or friend, a nurse, a general practitioner or another service provider.

Council’s Living at Home Assessment Officer will arrange a convenient time to visit you at home to discuss the service and obtain necessary information.
You may have someone with you during this visit if you wish; perhaps a family member or friend.
