Our Infrastructure Services team is responsible for maintaining, repairing and managing $160 million worth of public assets and facilities, including:

  • 3200km of roads valued at $120m;
  • 74km of kerb valued at $6m;
  • 36km of footpaths valued at $4m;
  • 27km of stormwater drainage valued at $6m;
  • 160 buildings valued at $24m; and
  • Parks and gardens, including playground equipment and street furniture.

Our role is to ensure our assets continue to meet the needs of the users and our community through our maintenance and renewal programs.

Whose road is it?

Many of the roads within our Shire fall under the responsibility of VicRoads. These include:

  • Hopetoun Rainbow Road
  • Jeparit Warracknabeal Road
  • Nhill Harrow Road

  • Nhill Yanac Road
  • Warracknabeal Rainbow Road

If you encounter a maintenance issue or road defects on a VicRoads controlled road these should be reported directly to VicRoads by phoning 131170 (24 hr service).

How to report a Council road issue?

Maintenance issues or road defects on Council roads, footpaths, drains, buildings or parks and playgrounds can be reported via our Customer Action Request form (below) or by phoning our customer service team on 03 5391 4444.

Private Works

Would you like your rural driveway graded or improved?  Do you need a supply of limestone or sandstone to undertake works around your property?

Council’s Infrastructure Department is multi-skilled and can operate a variety of plant and equipment including graders, rollers, water trucks and cartage trucks.  In addition, Council operates a number of sandstone quarries and two recently commissioned limestone quarries.
