Progress is being made on the development of a new Wimmera Street Bridge in Dimboola with concept designs nearing completion. A copy is included for information.
Early in October Council will be going to tender for the Design and Construction of this bridge with tenders due to close late November.
The new bridge will be a two lane structure allowing traffic in both directions at all times and will have a pedestrian path on the northern side providing a minimum level of service for this location.
The structure will be reinforced concrete with a design life of 100 years. The bridge replacement will be a staged construction with the existing bridge being used until the first stage of the new bridge is available. Traffic will then be transferred to the new bridge while the old bridge is demolished and the final stage of the new bridge is completed
Vehicles will be able to cross the bridge at all times during the construction phase which is expected to commence in March 2013 and continue for several months
All efforts will be made to minimise delays and restrictions and Council apologises for any inconvenience that may occur during this period.
