ABOUT COUNCIL MEETINGS

Council meeting agendas detail the order of business to be discussed and decided upon and as elected representatives of the municipality; Councillors take the strategic direction of Council and diverse needs and interests of the community into consideration when deliberating reports and recommendations included in the agenda.

In addition to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors, the Chief Executive Officer and Directors of each Department attend Council meetings. Council Officers attend from time to time as required to address Council on prepared reports and recommendations.

All Hindmarsh Shire Council meetings are open to the public; however meetings may be closed to the public during confidential business discussions.

Council encourages members of the public to attend Council meetings and if a member of public wishes to ask a question relating to an agenda item or raise an issue, they are requested to do so during the appropriate Public Question Time as listed on the agenda.

Special Council meetings will be called from time to time to discuss and decide upon specific matters, for example, the Budget, the Annual Report and the Council Plan.
