Australia Day, 26 January, is the day to reflect on what it means to be Australian, to celebrate contemporary Australia and to acknowledge our history. Every year, Hindmarsh Shire Council hosts an event in Nhill, Dimboola, Jeparit & Rainbow for our communities to gather to reflect, respect and celebrate.
Hindmarsh Shire Council's Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay, will be visiting and supporting the following events on Australia Day 2021:
Breakfast BBQ with a meet and greet, followed by a flag raising ceremony and award presentation from 8:30am at the Rainbow Oasis. Hosted by Lions Club of Rainbow.
Breakfast BBQ with a meet and greet, followed by a flag raising ceremony from 10:00am at Menzies Square in Jeparit. Hosted by Jeparit Town Committee.
Morning tea with a meet and greet, followed by a flag raising ceremony and award presentation from 11:30am at the rear of the new Dimboola Library. Hosted by Dimboola CWA and Dimboola Town Committee.
BBQ lunch with a meet and greet, followed by a flag raising ceremony and award presentation from 1:00pm at Goldsworthy Park in Nhill. Hosted by Nhill Lions Club.
Hindmarsh Shire Council would like to extend its thanks to the Lions Club of Rainbow, Jeparit Town Committee, Dimboola CWA, Dimboola Town Committee and the Nhill Lions Club for hosting the Australia Day Event in their respective towns on 26 January 2020 and the National Australia Day Council for their assistance. Council appreciates the ongoing efforts of these community groups to celebrate our history, identity and future opportunities as Australians – and looks forward to celebrating with you all over the Australia Day weekend.
