Davis Park Grandstand and Changerooms Officially Opened
Published on 17 April 2026
Hindmarsh Shire Council is pleased to announce that the new Davis Park Grandstand and Changeroom facilities is now officially open, following an opening ceremony held on Saturday 11 April 2026.
The new facility marks a significant investment in community sporting infrastructure and provides modern, fit‑for‑purpose amenities to support local sport now and into the future.
Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay said, “the redevelopment is about more than a new building, it is about community pride, participation and ensuring local clubs have infrastructure that meets modern expectations.”
“Davis Park has long been at the heart of sport and community life in Nhill. Generations of players, volunteers, families and supporters have gathered here week after week,” Mayor Ismay said.
“While the previous grandstand served the community well for many years, it had reached the end of its useful life. Looking at the modern, high‑quality facility now in place, it is clear it was worth the wait.”
The new facility includes contemporary change rooms and amenities, providing safe, inclusive and functional spaces for players, officials and volunteers, along with a new grandstand offering spectators a comfortable and welcoming place to enjoy local sport.
The project has been delivered through a strong partnership between Council, funding partners and the Nhill community, with contributions including:
- $790,000 contributed by Hindmarsh Shire Council
- $760,000 from the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program
- $250,000 from Sport and Recreation Victoria’s Country Football Netball Program
- $100,000 from the Nhill & District Sporting Club
Mayor Ismay acknowledged the crucial role played by the Nhill & District Sporting Club, particularly the club members in the Project Control Group and volunteers who provided substantial in‑kind support throughout the project.
Council also acknowledges Onley Holdings, the project builder, for delivering a high‑quality facility despite construction challenges.
“We are proud to officially open the Davis Park Grandstand and Changeroom facility and trust it will serve the Nhill community well for many years to come, continuing to be a place where memories are made, friendships are formed and community spirit thrives,” Mayor Ismay said.
