Cycling and Walking

Cycling along Wimmera River1.jpg
Hindmarsh has plenty to offer for walkers and cyclists of all levels. The gently undulating hills offer easy walking and cycling, whereas sandy tracks offer more challenges weather on bike or foot.

Town maps and brochures can be downloaded from our Brochures and Maps page.

For those looking for something a little more in the bush there are numerous walks in the Little Desert and Wyperfeld National Parks, from short interpretive walks to extended overnight walks.

Visit our National Parks and Reserves page for more information.

Cyclists will find a variety of experiences to choose from. The town walks described above are shared tracks and easily ridable, but to get a real feel for the area why not arm yourself with a good map and explore some of the country backroads or perhaps the tracks along the Wimmera River. The Wimmera River Discovery Trail (currently under development, planning to open in 2022) provides a number of cycling and walking experiences along the Wimmera River between Dimboola and Lake Hindmarsh. Further information and a dedicated webpage will be added as the project progresses.

Please note that tracks around lakes and watercourses may be quite sandy in sections.

Nhill Park Run
Part of the global "Parkrun" network, Nhill hosts Parkrun every Saturday morning at 8am, at Jaypex Park (on Western Highway). The shaded and scenic course makes its way from Jaypex Park to Nhill Lake.
