Update to Library Services - Interlibrary Loans

In late 2022, there were interruptions to the courier services for interlibrary loans that affected libraries across Victoria. This change put a pause on the delivery of books, audiobooks, magazines, etc, between libraries, meaning patrons were only able to loan books within each library service.

UPDATE: (8 February 2023)
Hindmarsh Shire Libraries, Yarriambiack Libraries and Buloke Libraries are pleased to announce the introduction of a temporary North West Network library loan system that will be available to our patrons effective immediately. Thanks to the generosity and compassion shown by neighbouring rural library services (Mildura, Swan Hill and Gannawarra), patrons within our library service will now have access to more resources across this newly established Network.

Following what has been a significantly difficult period for our remote rural communities, we acknowledge the support and assistance from Public Libraries Victoria staff to enable this temporary relief for our vulnerable patrons.

Public Libraries Victoria remain focused on the review process, working with consultants and the State Government to resolve the financial impact of the Inter Library Loan system for a reinstatement of the permanent system in the very near future.

Please do not hesitate to speak with your library staff regarding the temporary service changes. Let us help you stay connected.
Community members are able to join their local library and access both physical and online resources. Our libraries are safe and welcoming spaces for the community to use.
