Hindmarsh Shire Council is hosting a free community screening of the documentary by CALD Community Voices - Shared Table: Regional Heroes at the Nhill Memorial Community Centre on Friday 20 March 2026.

Doors will open at 6:15pm. The evening will commence at 6:30pm with a presentation by guest speaker and Director Nandita Chakraborty, followed by the screening at 7:00pm. Luv-a-Duck are kindly supporting this event by supplying Peking Duck Pancakes after the screening. This will also be an opportunity for attendees to chat and reflect on the film.

The film explores the lives of Karen (Myanmar), Hazara (Afghanistan), and Nepalese migrants who have made their homes in regional Victoria.

The Director of the documentary, Nandita Chakraborty, stated that, “In a world marked by division, ‘Shared Table - Regional Heroes’ brings people together through food, conversation, and listening, centring voices from the Nhill Karen community, Dimboola, Shepparton, and Gippsland.”

Chakraborty continued, “By sharing the stories of those who nourish us, 'Shared Table' gives them visibility and reminds us that it is our shared responsibility to shape a modern table – where meals and voices come together in connection.”

Bookings are not required.
