‘Cover to Cover’ Project Update for Dimboola Library
Published on 02 April 2026
Hindmarsh Shire Libraries is excited to provide an update on the ‘Cover to Cover’ project occurring at the Dimboola Library and Customer Service Centre, following its successful funding through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.
The Living Libraries Infrastructure Program (LLIP) is a Victorian Government initiative providing grants for upgrading public library facilities and supports diverse projects, from minor refurbishments to major builds.
Construction of the shade sail structures has been completed off-site, and installation is set to commence in mid-April, subject to the availability of additional trades. Council will be required to restrict access to the south entrance of the library hub whilst construction is underway, with closures from Lloyd Street to the Library building. Access to the public toilets at the rear of the gardens will still be possible by entering from the north side of the library building, beside Dimboola Pottery.
The initial ground and footings works are tentatively scheduled to take place on Monday 13 April 2026. Once these works are completed, only the immediate area will be cordoned off, allowing access as usual to the library throughout the normal operating hours for the remainder of that week.
Then, the installation of the shade sails will aim to take place on Monday 20 April 2026, where the same closures to access will be in place to allow the works to be completed.
Hindmarsh Shire Libraries are excited to create a more useable, sun-safe outdoor space at our Dimboola Library, allowing activities to take place safely outdoors and increasing public usage opportunities outside of the library operating hours.
