COUNCIL MEETINGS

Hindmarsh Shire Council operates in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020, and hold Council meetings monthly, generally on the first Wednesday of each month with the exception of January where no meeting is held.

A list of meeting locations and venues can be found below.

Council encourages members of the public to attend Council meetings (subject to COVID-19 restrictions) or to view our Council meetings live through Hindmarsh Shire Council’s Facebook page.

Community members wishing to ask questions at council meetings may do so, in writing, at least 24 hours prior to the council meeting. Both the question and answer will be read out at the meeting. Questions may be submitted by mail, email info@hindmarsh.vic.gov.au or delivered in person to a council customer centre but are limited to two questions and 100 words including any pre-amble.  Offensive, trivial and repetitive questions or questions, which have been recently answered, may be excluded at the discretion of the Mayor.

The question must be accompanied by a name and the locality where the questioner resides or works, which will be read out at the meeting. By submitting a question, the questioner gives consent to this information being read out in public. Anonymous questions will not be answered.

There may be situations where, due to technical difficulties (device failure or malfunction, unsatisfactory internet connectivity, unavailability of social media platforms and/or power outages) a live stream of the Council Meeting may not be available. All reasonable efforts will be made to ensure that live streaming is functioning, but there may be instances where due to technical issues beyond our control that the live stream is not available.

Council will notify the community through the Hindmarsh Shire Facebook page where there is an issue with the livestreaming.

COVID-19 COMMUNITY UPDATE

ACCESSING COUNCIL FACILITIES - VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

In line with Victorian Government requirements, as of 6pm Friday 29 October 2021, community members will need to show proof of double vaccination to access Councils community facilities including swimming pools, Nhill Memorial Community Centre, community halls and Hindmarsh Shire Libraries in Dimboola, Jeparit, Nhill and Rainbow. You can do this via the Services Victoria app or with a printed Vaccination Certificate and photo ID.

Children under 16, or those with an approved medical exemption, will still be able to access services.
To assist our community who are unable to access library services, in person, click and collect services are available along with e-books, e-audiobooks and e-magazines. Telephone your local Hindmarsh Shire Libraries branch to organise click and collect.

At this stage, Council’s Customer Service Centre in Nhill does not require customers to be double vaccinated. Community members needing access to customer services in person, can attend the Nhill Customer Service Centre at 92 Nelson Street, Nhill. Online services are available on our website or telephone 03 5391 4444 for assistance over the telephone.
