Hindmarsh Shire Council are pleased to let residents know that Shane Ledgar has been appointed as Council’s Swimming Pool Compliance Officer.
To improve the safety of pools and spas, the Victorian regulations changed on 1 December 2019. From that date, if you own a property with a pool or spa you were required to register the pool/spas with your local Council by 1 November 2020.
Mayor Ron Ismay advises “Whilst it is great for families to have backyard pools/spas, it is extremely important that users are protected from accidental drowning by fencing and other measures to increase safety for unattended pools and spas that may be accessed by persons unsupervised.”
The first round of Pool and Spa inspections are due to be completed by November 2021.
