2024 Hindmarsh Australia Day Awards Nominations Now Open

Each year on Australia Day, Hindmarsh Shire Council presents awards at the Australia Day events held throughout the shire on the day.

The Australia Day Awards recognise outstanding community service to the Hindmarsh Shire community during the current year and/or outstanding service to the community over a number of years. The Awards are provided by the Australia Day Committee (Victoria) and are administered by Hindmarsh Shire Council.

Council is now calling for nominations for the 2024 Hindmarsh Australia Day Awards and is encouraging members of the community to nominate persons who have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the Hindmarsh Shire community over a number of years, as well as events that have contributed to the community.

Nominations are now being called for:

  • 2023 Hindmarsh Shire Citizen of the Year: To be eligible, the person must be 25 years or older on 26 January 2024.
  • 2023 Hindmarsh Shire Young Citizen of the Year: To be eligible, the person must be under 25 years of age on 26 January 2024.
  • 2023 Hindmarsh Shire Community Event of the Year: To be eligible, the event must have occurred within Hindmarsh Shire during January 2023 – December 2023.

Mayor Brett Ireland said, “This is a wonderful opportunity to nominate and recognise any number of our hardworking and worthy volunteers and reward them for their services to our community.”

“Receiving any of these awards is an honor, and I urge everybody to consider submitting a nomination in any of the 3 categories. We have celebrated some exceptional recipients over the past years,” he concluded.

Members of the community can submit online nominations on Council’s website at www.hindmarsh.vic.gov.au/australia-day. Hard copies of nominations form can be printed from Council’s website and/or can be collected from any Hindmarsh Customer Service Centre and Library.

Nominations close 5:00pm on Monday 27 November 2023.
