Funding received to install a Raised Pedestrian Crossing in Dimboola
Published on 02 April 2026
Hindmarsh Shire Council is pleased to announce that it has secured funding from Transport Accident Commission (TAC) to construct a raised pedestrian crossing on Hindmarsh Street in Dimboola to improve pedestrian safety at the Dimboola Primary School.
Council has received $75,000 from TAC to deliver this project, with Council also contributing the same amount as a 50/50 project contribution.
Installing a new raised pedestrian crossing on Hindmarsh Street will deliver a priority crossing, making it easier and safer for pedestrians to cross the road with confidence. The unsupervised crossing is in a heavily trafficable pickup zone which creates a risk to younger users of the Dimboola Primary School.
This project will also include construction of kerb outstands to shorten crossing distances and improve visibility between pedestrians and vehicles. The raised crossing will act as a traffic calming measure, encouraging slower vehicle speeds and increasing driver awareness.
Improved lighting and better-managed parking around the crossing will further enhance safety, particularly during school drop-off and pick-up times.
Hindmarsh Shire Council remains committed to working collaboratively with the community to deliver vibrant and accessible public spaces that reflect the region’s identity and enhance the quality of life for all.
Construction is expected to begin in the 2026/2027 financial year.
