Hindmarsh Shire Council has prepared a draft Youth Strategy for 2025-2029. Before it is formally adopted for implementation, Council is seeking feedback from the community. The Strategy will guide Council in providing the best outcomes for young people across the Shire over the next four years.
The draft Youth Strategy reflects the needs and values of young people aged 12-24 who are living, learning and/or working in Hindmarsh Shire. The previous Youth Strategy 2021-2025 has been reviewed and developed based on a first round of community feedback undertaken in 2025 that involved surveys and workshops with young people. This feedback highlighted that the six key themes in the previous strategy still resonate with young people with theme 1, 3 and 5 being the most important.

They’re our next generation of leaders, employers, employees, and volunteers, so it’s integral that we create a community of opportunities, spaces and services that have young people in mind. The Youth Strategy provides this framework, making sure that Council decisions are reflective of the needs and aspirations of our Shire’s youth.”
