Hindmarsh Shire Council is pleased to announce that it has secured a grant through the Federal Government’s Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (SLRIP) Tranche 4, to upgrade Dimboola-Minyip Road. This funding program supports local councils to provide safer and more productive roads.

Council will receive $364,000 from the SLRIP program to complete this works, with Council contributing $91,000 towards the project on an 80:20 basis.

The upgrade involves the reconstruction and widening of a 1.4 km section of Dimboola-Minyip Road (between the Dimboola-East Road intersection and the Katyil-Wail Road intersection). This road is a key freight route and remains a high priority for Council to maintain in optimal condition.

Upgrading and widening Dimboola-Minyip Road will address critical safety issues, reduce the risk of serious accidents, and provide a safer road environment for all users, particularly heavy vehicles. The project will also strengthen regional connectivity and improve the reliability of an important freight link supporting the Wimmera’s agricultural industry.

Construction is expected to begin in the 2026/2027 financial year.
