The Hindmarsh Shire Youth Council Open Mic Night was held on Tuesday 29 September 2026 and was a wonderful success, showcasing the incredible talent within the community.

The audience was treated to a wonderful variety of musical talent, from singing, guitar and piano. For many young people, the event offered a valuable opportunity to gain confidence, develop their performance skills, and share their passion for music in a supportive community setting. It was fantastic to see local talent shine and the encouragement shown by family, friends, and community.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay thoroughly enjoyed his night.

“Council would like to sincerely thank everyone who performed on the night. A special thank you also goes to all community members who attended and supported the event. Your enthusiasm and encouragement helped create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone involved. We look forward to seeing more local talent at future events”, he said.

Young people played an important role in the planning and delivery of the event, contributing ideas, promoting the program, and performing on the night. Their involvement helped create an event that was youth-focused, inclusive, and reflective of the talents and interests of local young people.

Council would also like to acknowledge the support of the 2026 Victorian Youth Fest funding, which helped make this event possible and provided an opportunity to celebrate and showcase young people in our community.
