With spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to prepare your property for the fire season. A few simple steps now can make a big difference in protecting your home and community.

Top Fire Prevention Tips
  • Clean out your gutters
  • Remove flammable materials from around your home
  • Keep lawns and gardens trimmed
  • Ensure emergency vehicles can access your property

For more information on how to prepare your property, visit the CFA website at www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/how-to-prepare-your-property.

Fire Safety Inspections Begin in September

Hindmarsh Shire Council Municipal Fire Prevention Officers will commence fire safety property inspections across all townships in mid to late September. These are completed to ensure that residents are maintaining their properties to reduce the risk of fire hazards to help keep everyone safe. Completing them in September will ensure that anyone who receives a notice to tidy up their properties can access the Free Green Waste initiative in October.

Free Green Waste Month in October

Take advantage of Free Green Waste Month to dispose of overgrown vegetation and garden waste. It’s a great opportunity to clean up your property.

Fire Safety on the Farm

Farmers – now’s the time to plan your fire breaks around homes and paddocks. If your property borders a township, ensure fire breaks are in place to protect both your land and the community.
