Live music filled the air in Nhill for Hindmarsh and West Wimmera’s combined “Bring on Summer” youth and community event held on Saturday 24 November 2023.

While the elements conspired to scupper plans for an outdoor event at Jaypex Park, a shift to the Lowan Sports Stadium was a great back up plan.

Focusing on our local young people, the day was created to provide an opportunity to participate in, and listen to live music, in a safe, and supported environment.

A bus was provided to transport people to and from the event, so it was a great opportunity to make new friends and meet up with old ones.

The line up, featured Karen Doh dance group, Wimmera bands Senocide, and Jack Doolan and the Scrubs, and Melbourne/ Geelong band Ivy Black.

The entertainment was top notch, and it was a great opportunity for local talent to get together and play for a crowd.

Nhill Lions Club provided drinks and a BBQ, and Maggi’s Pizza was also there to help feed the hungry crew. The slushy machine was also a popular feature.

A big thanks to Nhill College and the Nhill College School Council for allowing us to hire the space on short notice. It was greatly appreciated.

The day was a great success, and it is hoped that the collaboration between two councils and youth officers will be able to continue to provide more excellent quality events in the future.
