Hindmarsh Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from a suitably qualified individual to be appointed as an external member to Council’s Audit and Risk Committee for the remainder of the 2024 to 2028 Council term.
The Audit and Risk Committee is an independent Advisory Committee established in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020 to provide oversight and appropriate advice to Council on the effective conduct of its responsibilities for financial and performance reporting, risk management and fraud prevention, internal controls and facilitating the organisations ethical and sustainable development.
About You
We are seeking applicants with strong business acumen, understanding of Hindmarsh Shire Council’s rural context, demonstrated professionalism, substantial experience in private sector business management, and a practical, stakeholder-focused lens. External members are required to demonstrate experience in the fields of finance, risk, governance, audit, and/or public sector management.
A copy of the Audit and Risk Committee Charter and Terms of Reference which clearly set out the Committee’s roles and responsibilities is available from the Council’s website www.hindmarsh.vic.gov.au/council-committees.
Expressions of interest, detailing background, experience and an understanding of the Committee’s duties and responsibilities (as detailed in the Audit and Risk Committee Charter) are to be in writing and addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, PO Box 250, Nhill or emailed to hr@hindmarsh.vic.gov.au, and be received by 12noon on Wednesday 15 July 2026.
