Wendy was raised on the land. She married into a farming enterprise and settled near the small rural town of Tantanoola, in the South East of South Australia. With a passion for rural life, horses, and everything agricultural, she took a keen interest in the property, especially the Hereford cattle and Border Leicester sheep studs.

In 2007 Wendy and her husband, John, purchased a caravan and, finding their farming skills an advantage, spent the next four autumns working on a large property in the WA wheat belt. Between driving seeding rigs, sprayers, and working in the grain silos during harvest, they had memorable experiences camping on a remote island off Dampier, in the wilds of the Kimberly and negotiating the Canning Stock Route. Wendy kept a diary, and after sending emails home telling of their interesting adventures, she was encouraged to put pen to paper.

Her rural fiction novels are based loosely on real places and situations, incorporate personal experiences and portray the happy-go-lucky Australian lifestyle. She believes rural Australia has a unique culture, enriched with colourful larrikins with their own quirky, sense of humour ─ a life she is extremely passionate about.
