Albacutya Bridge Closure

Published on 18 October 2021

Council has permanently closed the Albacutya Bridge after a condition inspection revealed the bridge is further deteriorating. This deterioration was likely accelerated due to the recent earthquake. All road users wishing to travel Albacutya Rd past Outlet Creek, will now be required to use the gravel bypass by following the detour roadside traffic management signage.

The closure will remain in place for several months whilst the replacement bridge is constructed. Site mobilsation is scheduled to start late October with demolition due to begin shortly after.

Mayor Cr Ron Ismay said “Council looks forward to the new Albacutya Bridge being constructed. The new dual lane bridge will greatly improve accessibility and safety for all road users, particularly heavy vehicles during the busy gypsum season”.
