As the Queen’s Birthday long weekend approaches, it is time to prepare your period costumes in readiness to head to the Wimmera Mallee Pioneer Museum Annual Vintage Rally.

This year sees the return of the biggest highlight in the museum’s calendar after two years of cancelled events due to the COVID19 pandemic. This year’s theme is “Sharing our Memories”, and along with the excitement of working displays and draught horses this year’s event will also feature guest presentations by local historian Phil Molesworth on the pioneer John Coppock and Craige Proctor talking about pioneering women and the German settlement of the area.

The Dimboola Historical Society will be presenting a slideshow of historical slides from its collection.

There will also be food vans and stalls, plus live music to add to the atmosphere of the weekend.

The rally runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday June 11 and Sunday June 12. You are encouraged to dress up in period costume to embrace the spirit of the event, but this is optional.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Melanie Albrecht said, “It is wonderful that the Wimmera Mallee Pioneer Museum Annual Vintage Rally is back in 2022. The Museum is a treasure trove of local history and the rally will attract visitors from far and wide. It will be enjoyable to see the community celebrate the historical period in costume.”
