Hindmarsh Shire Libraries is pleased to announce their next series of Author Talks with local author Maryanne Plazzer (MA Plazzer) who has contributed to the new release book Growing up in Country Australia alongside Tony Armstrong, Annabel Crabb and many others.

The Author Talk coincides with the book launch of Growing Up in Country Australia, edited by Rick Morton, senior reporter for The Saturday Paper, and regular guest on ABC’s The Drum. Rick has also written award winning non-fiction books.

Growing Up in Country Australia is a fresh, modern look at country Australia. There are stories of joy, adventure, nostalgia, connection to nature and freedom, but also grimmer tales – of drought, fires, mouse plagues and isolation. With nearly forty stories by established and emerging authors from a wide range of backgrounds – including First Nations and new migrants – Growing Up in Country Australia is a unique and revealing snapshot of rural life.

Hindmarsh Shire Libraries are privileged to host Maryanne Plazzer for this series of Author Talks speaking on stories of rural life including the story written about Jeparit. Copies of the book will also be available for purchase as well as copies to borrow in all four Hindmarsh Shire Libraries, including audio.

Author Talks will take place across all four libraries within the Hindmarsh Shire. Bookings will be necessary and can be made by phoning Customer Service on 03 5391 4444, or via email libraries@hindmarsh.vic.gov.au.
