Hindmarsh Shire Council received funding through the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) for a project entitled ‘Reconnecting Small Communities through Films and Music’ in 2024.

Over the past nine months this project has delivered the screening of six free films to senior residents in each of our main towns of Dimboola, Jeparit, Nhill and Rainbow.

The screenings of the films have been well supported by the senior residents and now it is time to present the FREE music concerts in each town during June 2025.

The well-known and highly regarded Acoustic Box Duo will provide entertainment for an hour and a half, presenting hits from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and beyond. Light refreshments will also be served after the concerts.

The aim of the ‘Reconnecting Small Communities through Films and Music’ project was to provide much needed support to the more senior residents of the Shire by offering an opportunity to attend a variety of free events and activities being held in each own town rather than the need to travel to other centres.

The ‘Reconnecting Small Communities through Films and Music’ project is in addition to the Seniors Victoria Festival Concert that is held in October each year.

Hindmarsh Shire Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay said, “Many of our elderly residents have limited capacity to travel and therefore are unable to attend events held elsewhere. This FRRR funded program has provided them with an opportunity to attend events in their local community that will also help them to 'get out of the house' and to connect socially with other people in their cohort and community."

While the concerts are a free event, registrations are essential. Bookings can be made by emailing info@hindmarsh.vic.gov.au, calling (03) 5391 4444 or by visiting any of Council's Customer Service Centres. Please specify any dietary requirements when booking.
