Hindmarsh Shire Council’s highly anticipated April 2026 school holiday program has come to an end with over 400 young people from across the community participating in two weeks of fun-filled activities.

Young people explored their creativity through the ‘Create and Relate’ sessions delivered by headspace Horsham. Participants enjoyed a wide variety of hands-on activities, including painting sneakers, embroidery, creating figurines with polymer clay, and gem art.

Participants also got active on the court, learning new skills and techniques while playing pickleball with Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly. Meanwhile, Council’s supported playgroup facilitators Ellen and Jess facilitated engaging sessions at local libraries and the Nhill Memorial Community Centre, where participants explored the world of physics by building their own vehicles and using balloons to propel them.

Gamers had a fantastic time joining Grayson at Level-Up Gaming, where they discovered new games and enjoyed favourites such as virtual reality experiences, Mario games, sports games and more.

The program concluded with a special screening of ‘Goat’ at the Nhill Memorial Community Centre, where attendees relaxed and enjoyed while munching on popcorn.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay said, “The successful completion of April’s school holiday program reflects our Council’s ongoing commitment to providing free, safe and accessible opportunities for local families. I commend our dedicated team and community partners for delivering a program that supported learning, connection and fun for children across our municipality.”

Hindmarsh Shire Council would like to thank Trina from headspace, Matt and Vedang from Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly, and all facilitators who contributed to delivering these activities for the Hindmarsh community.

The school holidays program was made possible through funding from the Victorian Government’s Amplify and Engage programs. This funding allows Council to engage and celebrate young people, providing opportunities to participate and celebrate their local community.
