Hindmarsh Shire Council Business Assistance Grants Awarded 2025

At the Hindmarsh Shire Council meeting held on Wednesday 29 October 2025, eight businesses were awarded Business Assistance Grants as part of round one of the 2025/2026 grants program.

The Business Assistance Grant Program was established in 2016 to generate new employment opportunities, support existing business growth and to attract new business to Hindmarsh Shire.

Council allocated $20,000 towards the 2025/2026 Business Assistance Grants Program, with grants awarded in two streams:

Streetscapes - up to $3,000 to improve the exterior façade of local businesses.
Business Development - up to $2,000 to support the establishment of new and innovative businesses and to support growth and development of existing businesses.

Six businesses were successful in applying for Streetscape funding including:

Bow Bakery, Rainbow received $1,500 towards a mural on the side of the bakery to be completed by a local artist.
Cambrelles, Nhill will receive $2,760 towards signage and façade upgrades for their business.
Mark Launer Plumbing, Dimboola will receive up to $3,000 to install signage on their shopfront.
Nhill Gutter Cleaning will receive up to $3,000 for signwriting and façade upgrades.
Rainbow learning Group and Neighbourhood House will receive up to $1,173 for signwriting and façade upgrades including an all-access ramp at their Federal Street shopfront.
Jasmine Garden Thai Restaurant, Nhill will receive $1,667 for signage.

Two businesses successfully applied for Business Development funding including:

Desert Blooms Florist, Dimboola has successfully applied for funding of $1,918.62 to go towards expanding their external display area.
Dimboola Pottery will receive $2,000 towards installation of ceiling heaters in the workshop/training area to create a more comfortable environment for winter pottery classes.

All successful applicants are also co-contributing to these projects.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay congratulated all applicants and said, “It is great to see continued strong and innovative projects applying for assistance through this Business Assistance Grants program. Businesses play such an important role in servicing the local community, attracting visitation and giving people who pass through our town a warm and welcoming experience.”
