Hindmarsh Shire Council Community Action Grants Awarded

At the meeting on Wednesday 6 May 2026, Hindmarsh Shire Council awarded seven local community organisations grants though round two of the 2025/2026 Community Action Grants program.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay, said “It is important that Council continues to support local community organisations in delivering these projects and events, as they play a vital role in strengthening community connections and resilience”.

The Community Action Grants program consists of three categories that support community organisations to purchase small equipment, host local events and general projects not covered in the first two categories.

Small Equipment recipients included: 

  • Kenmare Community and Historical Committee will receive $1,000 to assist the garden restoration and replacement of garden fencing at the 120-year-old Kenmare school.
  • Dimboola Golf Club will receive $943.20 to purchase a laptop and printer for the club.

Event Sponsorship recipients included:

  • Netherby Community Inc. will receive $350 towards a Netherby/Lorquon Football and Netball Club reunion.
  • Nhill Agricultural and Pastoral Society Inc. will receive $500 towards the annual Nhill Agricultural Show.

Community Assistance recipients included:

  • Dimboola Arts Inc. will receive $1,000 to support the establishment of a garden at the entrance of the Dimboola Riverside Holiday Park.
  • Menzies Symposium will receive $743.43 to assist with revitalisation of the existing garden beds surrounding the Menzies Spire in Jeparit.
  • Rainbow Archive and Historical Society will receive $872.73 to purchase three cabinets for storage to safeguard fragile documents from damage, environmental exposure, and deterioration.
