Great news! On behalf of Hindmarsh Shire, I am pleased to announce we have appointed Monica Revell as our new Chief Executive Officer.

Monica has been acting in the role for the last five and a half months and with her vast experience in Local Government, knows the business thoroughly. Monica beat a list of very impressive applicants for the position.

We look forward to Monica excelling in her strength areas, passion for her community, advocacy for financial and infrastructure projects, community satisfaction, prudent budgeting and being an open and approachable person within the community.

I wish Monica the very best in her new role and I am confident the Shire is in great hands.

The Nhill Airshow is coming up this weekend on Saturday 13 April and we know it will be a spectacular event with something to interest everyone. The organisers have worked tirelessly to produce possibly our Shire’s leading major event. Please reward their efforts by attending if possible.

We recently met with our Western Region State Labour Member, Jacinta Ermacora MP, who visited our Shire. Staff and Councillors chatted about our large key infrastructure priorities including the Jeparit Weir, Davis Park Nhill, Rainbow Main Street Amenities and the Dimboola Recreation Reserve. I am confident Jacinta, and her advisor, went away with a clear idea of our Shire’s needs in the community.

Several weeks ago we opened the Nhill Cane Ball Court and the Jeparit Riverbank Precinct / Deck area. Both of these functions were very well attended, including a visit by Dr Anne Webster MP, Member for Mallee. Complimentary BBQ’s were supplied at both events and a live band played on the deck in Jeparit into the night.

That’s all for now.
