Victorian Seniors Festival Activities in Hindmarsh
Published on 06 November 2025
Senior residents from across Hindmarsh Shire have been treated to a range of events and activities throughout October as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival 2025.
The Victorian Seniors Festival is a major state-wide festival held every year during October that delivers a range of free or low-cost events and functions for Victoria’s senior residents, with the 2025 theme being ‘Connect, Create, Celebrate’.
Nearly 400 Hindmarsh Shire residents attended events and functions throughout the month, one of them being the annual Seniors Concert featuring Melissa Langton performing her show ‘Colour my World – The songs of Petula Clark’. The concert was very well received by all in attendance with many saying they wished the performance went longer.
Other events included the screening of an Australian classic film, Crackerjack, and Downton Abbey – The Grand Finale, as well as information sessions on Environmental Health, Planning Ahead (legal and health planning) and Fire Readiness.
The second annual Men’s Bus Tour attracted nearly 50 residents from Dimboola, Jeparit, Nhill and Rainbow. Attendees enjoyed a day out visiting sites in the northern part of Hindmarsh Shire, including the Jeparit Riverbank Precinct, Jeparit Memorial Hall, Jeparit Historical Society, Jeparit RSL, Rainbow Lake, the Rainbow Silo Tourism Development, Pella Church and Museum and Yurunga Homestead.
Attendees were also treated to morning and afternoon tea and lunch, which were all catered by local businesses – many commented that there would not be any need for an evening meal that night.
Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay said, “Once again the senior residents of the Shire have been treated to a fantastic array of events and activities during the Victorian Seniors Festival 2025, and it was fantastic to see so many residents take advantage of what was on offer and attend.”
Cr Ismay added “I was particularly pleased to see the senior men’s tour visit Jeparit and Rainbow, as I am sure that there were many on the bus that had not seen or visited some of the places on the itinerary. The amazing lunch provided by the local café was very ably served by Councillor and Maître De, Cr Tony Clark.”
Funding for the Victorian Seniors Festival 2025 is provided by the Victorian Government.
