Hindmarsh Shire Council currently has the following vacancy:

Supported Playgroup Facilitator

Part Time, Fixed Term to 30 June 2028 (30 hours per fortnight)

Salary commencing at $39.06 per hour (plus superannuation)

Are you passionate about supporting families, building confidence in parents, and helping children thrive during their most important early years? Hindmarsh Shire Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Supported Playgroup Facilitator to deliver meaningful programs that make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable families.

This is your opportunity to lead supported playgroups across the Shire, deliver the evidence‑based Smalltalk program, and provide personalised in‑home support to families who need it most.

We’re looking for someone who is empathetic, approachable, and confident working with families from diverse backgrounds.  You will be skilled in early childhood development, family support, or community services, and able to deliver structured programs while adapting to individual family needs.  If this sounds like you, we can’t wait to receive your application!

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Children’s Services, Community Services, Social Work or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework including the Practice Principles and Learning Outcomes and Early Childhood Learning and Development stages.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish trust with vulnerable families and engage in a variety of strategies to encourage attendance and participation of group sessions.
  • Previous experience working with a diverse range of people, including those from varied social, cultural and economic backgrounds in a respectful and meaningful manner.
  • Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical, police check and Working with Children Check.
