Hindmarsh Shire Council Cat Desexing Program

APPLICATIONS FOR THE CAT DESEXING PROGRAM HAVE NOW CLOSED

Hindmarsh Shire Council has received funding for cat desexing through the Victorian State Government’s Animal Welfare Grants Program (Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions). The funding supports eligible concession card holders to access partially subsidised cat desexing procedures at local clinics.

The program has been amended to directly provide a pre-paid voucher to applicants, with the difference in cost to be covered by the pet owner.

If you require any support filling in an application form or would like to discuss the program further, please contact Council on (03) 5391 4444 or by email at info@hindmarsh.vic.gov.au.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the program you must be a resident of Hindmarsh Shire and have a current concession card from the following list:

  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • Health Care Card
  • Low income Health Care Card
  • Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card

Source Numbers

You will need to be able to provide the veterinary clinic with a source number if your cat was born after 1 July 2020. If your cat is not desexed, it is unlikely that you will have a source number. This means that you will be required to register for a source number prior to the appointment.

You can register for a source number at https://per.animalwelfare.vic.gov.au/. If you require assistance registering for a source number, you can visit any of Council's customer service offices, or call (03) 5391 4444.
