Update to Library Services

In line with Victorian State Government requirements, from 6pm Friday 29th October 2021, Hindmarsh Shire community members will need to show proof of their double vaccination status to access Hindmarsh Shire Library branches at Dimboola, Nhill, Jeparit and Rainbow. We ask you to please be patient with us as we navigate this new way of delivering our services.

QR Codes will be placed at the service desk in each library. Signs on the door will direct you to sign in at the service desk. A staff member will need to check your proof of double vaccination status.

You can show us your proof of vaccination a few ways:
  • By presenting your vaccination certificate via the Service Victoria app when you check-in via QR code
  • By presenting your vaccination certificate via the Medicare app
  • By presenting a hard copy version of your vaccination certificate, along with photo identification
  • By presenting your immunisation history statement

Please note:
  • In addition to showing proof of double vaccination, you must wear a fitted mask in all our libraries at all times and maintain physical distancing.
  • You must provide your name and a contact number via the QR code or directly to staff upon entry.
  • While mask wearing is mandatory, we ask you to please not eat or drink in the library.
  • Children under 16, or those with an approved medical exemption, will still be able to access services.
For those members of the community who are not yet vaccinated, please know that Hindmarsh Shire Libraries are still able to offer you a range of services:
  • Click & Collect: members can order titles online or by telephone to their local branch and collect items at an agreed time, in a COVID safe manner.
  • Form Drop: community members can submit Council forms via our after-hours return chutes at Nhill & Dimboola. Remember you can also seek face-to-face assistance at our Nhill Office.
  • Digital library: eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, movies, docos, languages, plus children’s activities. Remember we can easily set you up with any of these services, just call your local Hindmarsh Shire Libraries branch.
At this stage, Council’s Customer Service Centre in Nhill does not require customers to be double vaccinated. Community members needing access to customer services in person, can attend the Nhill Customer Service Centre at 92 Nelson Street, Nhill. Online services are available on our website www.hindmarsh.vic.gov.au or telephone 03 5391 4444 for assistance over the phone.

Again, we ask you to be please be patient while we implement this new way of operating and know that we want you to stay connected to your local Hindmarsh Shire Library.

If you need a hand with uploading your certificate to your phone – we can help you.

If you need a hand obtaining a copy of your vaccination status – we can help you.

Any abuse towards staff will not be tolerated, as we are only following the requirements of the Victorian Government. Police will be called if necessary.
