Business Assistance Grants - Now Closed

The Hindmarsh Shire Council Business Assistance Grants Program was established in 2016 to generate new employment opportunities, support existing businesses to grow and attract new business to Hindmarsh Shire.

Business Assistance Grants are categorised into two tiers of funding:

Tier One

Tier One grants aim to assist existing businesses to undertake small projects / initiatives (with a value up to $1,000 without a co-contribution). Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Projects that assist the growth of existing small businesses,
  • Up-skilling existing employees,
  • Small business mentoring,
  • Creation / update of business planning documents (business plan, marketing plan and succession plan etc.)
  • Development of a website / social media.

Business owners and operators are encouraged to identify the individual needs of their business and to prepare an appropriate application in accordance to the eligibility criteria. Refer to the following eligibility / ineligible criteria.


Tier Two

Tier Two grants aim to assist existing businesses to undertake larger projects (from above $1,001 up to $3,000 with a 1:3 cash ratio).

For every $1 cash contribution from businesses, Council will contribute $3 up to a maximum of $3,000.) Examples of initiatives include, but are not limited to:

  • Expansion from a home business base to commercial premises,
  • Relocation of businesses from other Municipalities into Hindmarsh Shire,
  • Upgrades to premises, eg new or improved signage, painting, minor repairs, all-ability access, security / in-store lighting, air conditioning, veranda / awning repairs, upgrades etc.
