Community Action Grants - Now Open!
Applications for Round One of Hindmarsh Shire Council's Community Action Grants Program are now open!
The Community Action Grants Program was established in 2013 to support communities with funds to assist with community development, social action and connectedness. Council has allocated $20,000 towards the 2025/2026 Community Action Grants Program which is categorised into three key areas:
- Community Assistance – up to $1,000
- Events Sponsorship – up to $500
- Small Equipment – up to $1,000
The Community Action Grant has supported a range of valuable projects across Hindmarsh Shire, all aimed at strengthening and enriching the community. The grant has assisted with the purchase of essential equipment such as laptops, mowers, and fridges, as well as supporting hall and movie hire, and contributing to the cost of basketball uniforms to ease financial pressure on players and their families. It has also helped fund community events, including functions and entertainment. Agricultural and Pastoral Societies in Nhill and Jeparit have used the grant to hire entertainers and face painters, providing free activities for locals during their annual shows. With initiatives like these, the opportunities to build a thriving, connected community are endless.
