Hindmarsh Outdoor Swimming Pools Operations

Following the recent Council meeting held on Wednesday 03 April 2024 Hindmarsh Shire Council has decided not to extend the contract with the YMCA for Management and Operations of the outdoor swimming pools within the municipality.

The management and operations of the four Hindmarsh Shire operated swimming pools will now be undertaken directly by Council staff.

Hindmarsh Shire Council would like to take the time to thank the YMCA for their support and assistance with the Management & Operations of our four pools over the last three years.

For the 2024/25 opening season entry to all Hindmarsh Shire operated swimming pools will be free during normal operating times, making access to these essential facilities and services available to all residents within our municipality.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Brett Ireland said, “Council has listened to the community in relation to the operation of the swimming pools.”

Cr Ireland continued “We understand the financial challenges faced by many in our community and having free entry to the swimming pools is one way of ensuring there are no barriers to escaping the heat of summer and children becoming comfortable with the water.”

Cr Ireland concluded “We encourage people to keep an eye out from late July when advertising commences for seasonal staff, including lifeguards. These are fantastic positions for people of all ages.”
