Community Action Grants

Council offers project funding to not-for-profit community groups through our Community Action Grants program. Traditionally, these grants have helped to support the delivery of projects by the community for the community.

This year the Council is offering specifically targetted rounds. Round One is aimed at assisting community groups with payment of the ongoing overhead costs of running a not-for-profit organisation. Community groups can apply for assistance in two categories:

Utility Assistance

Council will contribute up to $500 per successful applicant to assist in paying for an organisation's expenses for utilities such as electricity, gas, and phone/internet. Council understands that these ongoing overheads can prove challenging to not-for-profit groups, particularly in the present climate. Council hopes that the funding will assist groups in maintaining their financial status until they are able to resume normal activities.

Rent/Lease Assistance

Council will contribute up to $500 per successful applicant to assist in paying for the ongoing expenses for renting or leasing properties related to the normal operation of the organisation. This can include, but is not limited to, the hiring of meeting places, storage facilities, clubhouses, or any premises used in the usual functioning of the organisation. Again, Council hopes that this funding will assist the Shire's valuable community groups to remain viable during these challenging times.
