Mayoral Matters December 2022 Published on 15 December 2022 Hi everyone, I was privileged to be a guest of honor at awards nights recently at our schools in Rainbow, Nhill and Dimboola. The Hindmarsh Shire Council sponsors the Rae Keam award which is in memory of a former engineer on the shire of Dimboola. Mayoral Matters November 2022 Published on 24 November 2022 With Christmas fast approaching, in our shire, this also means harvest time. We have had extremely wet conditions of late, and farmers, whilst looking forward to a bumper year, face all sorts of challenges to harvest their crops successfully. Mayoral Matters October 2022 Published on 11 October 2022 It is lovely to see the sun starting to shine after considerable rain fall this winter and spring. It has resulted in some amazing canola crops which are the tallest I can remember! I hope the rain translates into good profit for farmers, which flows into the Hindmarsh economy. Mayoral Matters February 2022 Published on 25 February 2022 As we have welcomed 2022, it is positive to see how our communities are adapting to living in a new COVID-19 normal world.With movement around Victoria and from South Australia remaining open over the summer, Hindmarsh has started the year with the Peter Taylor Memorial Barefoot Water Ski Tournament and Night Jump on the beautiful Wimmera River at Dimboola. Mayoral Matters Published on 29 November 2021 It has been a challenging week for Hindmarsh Shire, in particular the community of Nhill, with the outbreak of COVID-19 rapidly hitting. Hindmarsh has been fortunate since early 2020 to remain COVID-19 free, but with the opening up of Victoria, positive cases are being recorded locally in high numbers. Most areas in our shire have since received in the vicinity of twenty to twenty-five millimetres. I can begin this report with tallies of twenty-five to fifty plus millimeters and not over yet.
