The Croquet Club was formed late in 1921 and opened for play on February 25th 1923 on the same site as the Bowling Club in Broadway.

With Mrs Eva Allen as President and Mrs G Schulz as Secretary the club soon passed a by-law that the club would be “ladies only” with a minimum age for members set at 16. When the Bowling Club moved to its present site in Roy Street the Croquet Club had the greens in Broadway all to itself.

Although it always had low membership numbers the Club featured prominently in Pennant and District Championships. The team of Emily Gawith, Phyllis Clee, Jean Natt, Glad Monssen and Bessie Strauss won the Wimmera “A” Grade Pennant for 7 consecutive seasons from 1970-71 to 1977-78.

Despite this success the low numbers of active members forced the club to close during the 1977-78 season.
