Site 67A The Pound

68 Lower Roy Street

Return to walk homepage

The Pound for stray animals was established just north of the present Bowling Greens. There were two cattle yards and a large black notice board, quoting various charges for the assorted stray animals caught roaming the streets, or on private property.

Frank Gloury was the pound keeper for many years until Wally Volkmann took it over. It was later shifted to the other side of the street.
