The weatherboard Butcher shop that originally stood on this site was built prior to 1893 and was run by D. E. Osmaston and B. E. Nicholls, formerly the lessees of the Hindmarsh Station. In that year Fred and George Natt purchased the business but soon sold it to J. B. Witney in 1894, although they continued to live on the block. The building in the photograph at right was extensively remodeled when the butchers shop was converted into an extension of the dwelling.
