It is not known when this building was built, but according to a newspaper report of a council meeting, The Horsham Times, dated Tuesday, 25th February, 1913, Cr Weidermann moved that the Police Department be communicated with requesting that morgues be provided in Dimboola, Jeparit and Rainbow. Cr Walsgott seconded, the motion was carried.

William Stafford bought the blacksmiths & undertaking business from Mr William T. Perry in 1909. Expanding into coach building as well as blacksmithing and undertaking in the buildings just north of this building. His sons, Bert was the coach builder, Les was the blacksmith and Ted was the painter.

As the local undertakers they used two dark bay horses, who spent 99.9% of their life grazing in Hamdorf’s paddock.
