The vacant block between the sale yards and the railway line was taken up the Hindmarsh Concrete Works. The company was formed by a promoter from Melbourne around 1927 using local capital. It turned out to be a bit of a failure because of the poor quality of the products. So much so, that the promoter had “Saw Dust” tacked onto his surname.

Under new management the products did improve and several buildings used their bricks and tiles. When the concrete company ceased business, circa 1939, John K. Livingston became the owner. At some stage J. K. Livingston sold it to his brother Frank A. Livingston.

In 1954 it was purchased by Mr Cecil Werner and it became Jeparit Timber and Hardware Co. In 1960 it was purchased by Mr Bill Ackland. The name was later changed to Jeparit Timber and Trading. In 1973 the Jeparit Lions Club took up residence here until they disbanded in 2022. The Lions Club held an annual auction of second hand items here for many years which proved very popular.
